We left Willahermosa the following day and we took a small plane to Merida. Our airplane had propellers and we had to walk all the way to the plane so we could get into it on its rear side. Mom did not respect signs and a lady came by all the time to yell at her. Since she did not pay attention to her then it wouldnt matter. At the end, I sat on the far back of the plane and with a lot of thrills caused by the few turbulence zones. At the end, I was one of the first ones to leave the plane and I waved bye-bye to the family that was sitting on the first seats and who could see me from the windows. It was already hot. It is worth noticing that every time we got to a place there was a sign written: Lamas, Mario. lol. Mom and dad went to exchange argent and we went straight to put the suitcases in the van. As usual, mom and dad left without knowing where to wandering around. I had to alert the driver to go get them. We were already sitting at the back of the van and it would be too troublesome to try to fix the front seats so we could get out and run after them. Mom and dad came to the van in a nice mood. They had been distracted by the sculpture of the lizard - Iguana.
Menos comida, claro. Tinha wi-fi dentro do parque, por sinal.
As soon as we got to the hotel we had problems with the room key. It tooks us 15min to decide what to do and dad was impatient to visit the city. After they finally gave us a new key. You can only have one per room, we ran straight to the street. It was raining. But I checked on my tablet that the rain forecast would last 1 hour and the rest of the day would be sunny. Mom opened up her bag and gave us all raincoats. Dad ran to get a taxi so it would take us to the city park that we saw right before arriving to the hotel. It was a zoo park. Everything free. Except food, of course. There was wi-fi inside the park, by the way.
Train was free, but there was a huge line. So I jumped in this one for a nice shot. I think it was meant for children. It was tough to get in and even to get out.
So we went to see the other animals and we could not miss to see the Flamingos that are so typical from this region. Birds are loose by the way. There are some and others that might not be and they are in huge cages like Jurassic Park that you can go in and visit.
So we went to visit the felines. Dad enjoyed taking pictures striking a pose and he hurried to visit other animals by following the train rails.
Mom also wanted to take pictures there and she decided to go to the other side so she could see the felines. That way they split ways and hermanito (little brother) kept alternating to whom he would follow.
Elas saíam correndo feito doidas iguais as cães.
It was the 1st time I saw siberian tigers and since I also followed the railing path I ended up missing some of the felines. They were already getting ready to have dinner and taking naps inside their caves. You can tell that they are used to humans and they are super happy. They play a lot and they seem to enjoy their caretakers and the place. I saw a caretaker playing with the jaguars. They would run like crazy just like my dogs. And they would come back as if they were expecting to catch balls. I think they were animals from circus and, therefore, this environment is a lot better than what they had before.
Tinha bastante cervos, veados e afins.
There were lots of deers and other related. all types and all colors. They reproduce well in captivity and it looks like it is hard to keep them confined in one sector. They seem to be crossing through cages and making friends among them.
Jézinha também estava no zoo. Fotinho pra posteridade.
Jezinha (little Je - short for Jerika) was also in the zoo. Little picture to posterity.
Mario told me the story of a Lhama that was never visited in the zoo. Its cage was right beside the Panda's and she was always depressed that no one would visit her, just the Panda. One day she decided to dress up as Panda but it didnt do much. I think it was supposed to be a comedy but anyhow we decided to go there support the lhama, visit and take pics. This one was happy.
Then dad shouted: Look that is the one that helps Santa Claus! So we took pics of these animals that I do not know the name of. They are really different.
Right after we saw the hippos. Mas got disappointed with the felines because they had the same height and weight of Gouda (nick for Shanti, our dog) so they were "chiquitos (small)". So she decided to see the hippos that according to her were really big.
Ela curtiu ficar vendo o bebe hipo.
She enjoyed watching the baby hippo. The only problem is that the poor one got scared by the thunder and it thought mom did the sound. So he went to call his mommy. his mom was cooling herself in the pool and she was telling him that everything was ok and she would be with him to make him feel safe. After its mommy, its daddy also came along and the baby was happy. My dad wanted to visit the rest but mom said she would not want to leave the place because it was cute and she never sees those things.
After that we got into the jurassic part. Giselinha is laughing a lot with my parents comic poses. It looked like a volcano and the primates were there, also goofing around.
Dad and Mario got inside to see the reptiles but as it was hot mom did not want to go in.
Then dad left the place saying that he had talked to the serpent just like Harry Potter and so I rushed in to see if the serpent really moved. It was already sleeping. :(
Esse é um pássaro macaco. Dahorinha né?
This is a monkey bird. Cool right?
Leaving the zoo there was a bunch of places to relax inside the part. It wasnt raining anymore so we took advantage of it to see it all and to take pictures. We had churros. A package of I dont recall how many pesos came with a handful of churros. So delicious.
Essa é a entrada do parque. Tudo super limpo.
This is the entrance of the park. It was super clean. Dad said that they must have been using their taxes properly and for sure the population must be really happy about it. We did see some international tourists but they would speak in French.
I think that hermanito was trying to find himself on the map. Did I mention that there was free wi-fi inside the park? We took a bus that was right outside the park and we wento straight downtown.
We visited a place like Casa da Cultura (museum in Lorena-SP) where mom and dad did some shopping. They did not tire at all from checking on crafts and after dad saw a bookstore then, he spent what he had and what he did not have. Mario was looking at him with a funny face because he knew he would be the one taking all of that back home. his suitcase was the only one close to empty.
This city cathedral was built reusing stones from mayan temples. Spaniards used to destroy everything. I think this is the only one that they really took stone by stone and put it up to build the cathedral. It is a shame. I think this is why I dislike the colonial architecture.
If I was poor I dont remember. We also enjoyed the pool from the hotel, at least to bathe our feet.
Dad was enjoying himself by reading the books he bought. As he couldnt find them neither in portuguese, nor in spanish or even english he wanted to buy them in german. At the end, he bought them in Italian.
In the evening we decided to walk around the city and get something to eat. Since mom likes Subway we went to Subway. Afterwards they went to another craft's shop. I was outside the store because I still had my soda. Hermanito decided to stay outside as well so he wouldnt have to see anymore crafts. But he asked me to tell him the story of Frozen that according to him, he does not want to watch it. So you can imagine how long it took them that there was plenty of time to tell Mario all the story with details.
Mom doesnt like to go to church but she enjoys taking pics of cathedrals. According to her, it was the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. She tried to take pics of the cathedral with the moon beside it, but all of them failed. There is also wi-fi in this park and the seats are right next to each other. How odd.
So dad and mom decided to play that they were fighting each other so they could see who what the strongest. After we got lost trying to find the Olimpo we got to the place and there was nothing. It was closed. So I wanted ice cream but because there was not what mom wanted we had to wander around until we could find another shop. I finally got tired of it and I bought a giant ice-cream that was typical from the city. I think it was a foot long. Mario also got one and then we walked happily ever after.
We got inside this gallery with painted wall of pictures of old times. It was a city very close to how Lima is now, with balconies and all the rest. I dont really like this type of architecture but mom loved it. Then mom got jealous that we had ice cream and she didnt but she wanted a specific one. She finally found it but since we were still having ours we had to wait outside the store. We got to the hotel and my mom's ice cream was already over. We had to sit at the hall of the hotel near a fountain (very nice by the way) to finish it up. That ice cream was enormous.
Putz, comer no subway estando no Mexico? Vai comer tacos! Quanta decepçao! Merida é so o zoo mesmo?
Tava bonito.
